Understanding Orthopedic Treatments

Hey everyone, my name is Belinda. When I was a young girl, I injured the muscles in my legs performing complex gymnastic moves. I was under the care of an orthopedist for several months during the recovery period. I had to complete a number of strengthening exercises to regain my range of motion and mobility. The orthopedist performed regular examinations to determine if the given treatment was working. I will use this site to talk about different orthopedic treatments. I hope you will visit my site often to learn about this fascinating subject.

Optimize Comfort And Enjoyment While Recovering From Spinal Fusion Surgery

by Stanley Pierce

While spinal fusion surgery is sure to make you feel better in the long run, recovery takes time and can feel both inconvenient and uncomfortable. Here are a couple of effective ways to optimize your comfort and enjoyment levels throughout the recovery process:

Treat the First Couple of Weeks Like a Vacation

Embrace the first couple of weeks you'll be spending at home, when you won't be able to move very much and you will be spending most of your time in one place. You don't have to worry about the time being boring if you treat it like a vacation instead of a recovery period. While you'll still face some pain in the first days and weeks during recovery, you can make the initial recovery period more enjoyable by:

  • Renting enough movies to watch a new one every day for two weeks.

  • Investing in a variety of magazines and crossword puzzles to enjoy morning, noon, and night.

  • Purchasing massage lotion, facial masks, and other personal care accessories so a loved one can give you legs and arm massages and provide you with a luxury spa treatment once or twice a week.

  • Having family members deliver your meals to you as if you were ordering room service every day.

Outfit your bed with brand new sheets, blankets, and pillows and decorate your room to make it look and feel like a hotel suite so you feel like you're on vacation while recovering that first week or two after surgery.

Plan a Few Get-Togethers at Home

Maintaining a social life during recovery from spinal fusion surgery is essential, as it will help minimize any depression that may occur and ensure that you maintain a connection with your community while you're healing and unable to move too much or travel. Planning a few get-togethers at home during the first couple months during recovery will give you an opportunity to catch up with friends and get extra support if it's needed.

The events should be low-key and include activities that will help you recover. You can get friends together to make fresh juices from scratch, which will infuse your body with nutrients. Or, keep your mind sharp by hosting a puzzle party. Sitting around the fireplace to tell ghost stories is an excellent way to socialize while enjoying the experience of camping. Choose a different theme for each of the get-togethers you host so each experience is new and exciting for everyone involved.
